नयी दिल्ली, आठ मार्च (भाषा) भारत के जी20 शेरपा अमिताभ कांत ने शुक्रवार को कहा कि पर्यटन क्षेत्र में आने वाले वर्षों में 2.5 करोड़ नौकरियां सृजित करने की क्षमता है। साथ ही यह क्षेत्र कार्बन उत्सर्जन में कटौती की अगुवाई करने का भी एक अनूठा अवसर उपलब्ध कराता है। कांत ने यहां होटल एवं रेस्तरां क्षेत्र के निकाय ‘फेडरेशन ऑफ होटल एंड रेस्टोरेंट एसोसिएशन ऑफ इंडिया’ (एफएचआरएआई) के एक सम्मेलन में कहा, ‘‘जैसे-जैसे भारत टिकाऊ वृद्धि की दिशा में बढ़ रहा है, यह स्पष्ट है कि पर्यटन हमारे भविष्य को आकार देने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाएगा।’’ उन्होंने ‘ट्रैवल फॉर लाइफ – टूरिज्म सस्टेनेबिलिटी’ विषय पर आयोजित सम्मेलन में कहा, ‘‘इस क्षेत्र में आने वाले वर्षों में 2.5 करोड़ नई नौकरियां पैदा करने की क्षमता है। पर्यटन न केवल आर्थिक समृद्धि लाता है बल्कि भारत के लिए कार्बन उत्सर्जन में कटौती की अगुवाई करने का एक अनूठा अवसर भी उपलब्ध कराता है।’’ पर्यटन मंत्रालय के सहयोग से आयोजित इस कार्यक्रम का मकसद पर्यावरण संरक्षण और जलवायु परिवर्तन पर महत्वपूर्ण प्रभाव डालने वाले सैलानियों और पर्यटन कारोबार के मामले में कुशल गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा देना है। नीति आयोग के पूर्व मुख्य कार्यपालक अधिकारी (सीईओ) कांत ने कहा, ‘‘हमारी प्रति व्यक्ति खपत कम होने के बावजूद, हमें ग्रीनहाउस गैस उत्सर्जन की उभरती चुनौती का सक्रिय रूप से समाधान करना चाहिए। कार्बन उत्सर्जन में कमी को लेकर भारत की प्रतिबद्धता न केवल जरूरी है बल्कि एक जिम्मेदारी भी है। हम आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए एक हरित और अधिक मजबूत भविष्य बनाने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं।’ इस मौके पर एफएचआरएआई ने होटल एंड रेस्तरां उद्योग में पर्यावरण अनुकूल कदमों को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए इंडियन प्लंबिंग एसोसिएशन (आईपीए) के साथ एक समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इसका उद्देश्य उद्योग में जल संरक्षण और टिकाऊ ‘प्लंबिंग’ गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा देना है। इसके अलावा एफएचआरएआई ने इंडियन ग्रीन बिल्डिंग काउंसिल (आईजीबीसी) के साथ भी साझेदारी की घोषणा की। इसका उद्देश्य भारत को 2025 तक इमारतों के क्षेत्र में पर्यावरण-अनुकूल गतिविधियों के क्षेत्र में वैश्विक अगुवा के तौर पर आगे लाना है। एफएचआरएआई के अध्यक्ष प्रदीप शेट्टी ने पर्यावरण-अनुकूल पहल की दिशा में सामूहिक प्रयास पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा, ”हमारा मानना है कि पर्यावरण-अनुकूल पहल सकारात्मक बदलाव के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। पर्यावरण-अनुकूल स्थायी गतिविधियों को अपनाकर व्यवसाय न केवल अपनी दीर्घकालिक सफलता सुनिश्चित कर सकते हैं, बल्कि एक स्वस्थ पृथ्वी को बढ़ावा देने और हमारे मेहमानों के लिए वास्तव में समृद्ध अनुभव प्रदान करने में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा सकते हैं।’’ भाषा FHRAI Hosts Travel for Life – Tourism Sustainability Summit 2024, signs MoUs with Indian Plumbing Association and Indian Green Building Council.

New Delhi, March 8, 2024 – The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), the world’s 3rd largest association announces the successful culmination of a one-day event ‘Travel for Life – Tourism Sustainability Summit 2024’ held at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi, on March 8, 2024. This initiative was organized with the support of Ministry of Tourism which aims to bring large-scale behavioural change amongst tourists and tourism businesses, significantly impacting environmental protection and climate action.
FHRAI forged strategic partnerships and signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with key stakeholders, during the Summit to drive sustainable initiatives within the industry. Noteworthy collaborations include an MoU between FHRAI and the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA), aimed at facilitating knowledge exchange and joint initiatives for water conservation and sustainable plumbing practices in hotels and restaurants. FHRAI announced another partnership with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) to further its commitment towards sustainable development in the built environment. The collaboration seeks to enable India to become a global leader in sustainable building practices by 2025.
The event was also graced by esteemed dignitaries, including ‘Special Guest’ Mr Yugal Joshi, Mission Director of Life & Adviser, Water, Land Resources, and Communication at NITI Aayog, Government of India, and ‘Chief Guest’ Mr Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa and Former CEO of NITI Aayog, Government of India. The summit aligns with the Ministry of Tourism’s vision to promote environmental protection and climate action through responsible tourism. With the theme ‘Travel for Life’, the event was aimed to bring a shift in the mindset of tourists and tourism businesses towards sustainable practices.
